I've been in my first 'corporate' job nearly a year and I still find meetings over Microsoft Teams and Zoom really nerve-wracking, even just 1:1 meetings with colleagues I know quite well. I'm much more relaxed in person and find it easier to speak up in meetings that are in person.
I feel like on Teams I'm overly conscious of my posture, my background and my facial expressions. I don't ever look at myself when in meetings, but I'm still aware that I'm on camera if that makes sense. Speaking up in meetings feels nerve wracking and like public speaking, even though it's usually just speaking in front of 2-5 colleagues.
Does anyone else relate?
