Am I Peri?

Spurred on by another post, I wanted to know if the things I am experiencing is Peri rather than arthritis or something else.

I am relocating to the opposite side of the country this week which is why I have been putting off going to the Drs as I will have to register at a new one. I am 44.

Tight neck, feels more restricted than normal?
Dripping with sweat doing small things like washing up
Joints popping mainly shoulders, fingers and hips
Joints aching
Sleep horrendous
Extreme anxiety
Puffy neck
Always had terrible periods

My Mum breezed through menopause so she didn't get all of the above

The neck issues are worrying me as I said I have extreme anxiety. I have a low flat lump at the back of my neck that I am thinking is a knot as I am tense 100% of the time. I went to the Drs about that but she couldn't feel it?

Thanks

Have you had your thyroid checked?

Laughinggoat · 17/07/2022 10:21

Menopause has a lot of symptoms that are vague enough they could be other things as well. Hot, sleeping badly, aching, for example.

The neck symptoms would make me suggest thyroid too. Have you lost weight recently, or are finding you're gaining weight or not losing if you wanted to? Sluggish or full of energy? For me, dry skin and lack of body hair indicate low thyroid function.

Definitely worth registering with the new GP and asking for a well woman check.

More putting on weight than losing it. I have just washed up with a fan on me and look like I have just stepped out of the shower. It has been like this a few months not just with the weather.I am sluggish, I haven't paid attention to lack of body hair actually.

I will register straight away with the new Drs, hopefully they are better than mine. Thank you
