Fixed term, possibly stupid question.

Should I have to do some work scheduled after a fixed term contract of employment ends?
No right? It's not in my contract, I've just had it said verbally that the hours I've been paid for cover this work (vague I know but can't go into too much detail). I don't think they do though as they couldn't have foreseen the scale of the work (resit marking) when writing the contract.

Am I being taken for a mug or should I just do the work?

I think you might have to explain what your contract says and when it ends.

No idea but it sounds like exam marking - would the education /higher education board be a better source of knowledge?

If the work was generated after your contract ends (and sounds like it might be) then you need to be paid more for it. Even if the exam occurred before your contract ended but the papers were not sent to you in good time- you need to be paid more for it. This applies if you have a fixed term contract
