Hi
This is an odd question I realise! My husband and I have a rare opportunity to spend during school hours tomorrow to go out without our children. He’s left it up to me to plan 🙄

we live near Gatwick airport and want to go somewhere for a meander round some charity shops, go for a coffee etc. can anyone recommend anywhere nice to do this that’s not too far away?
x

Guildford maybe

I don't live anywhere near you so can't help but that is exactly what I'd choose too Grin Have fun.

Dorking?

Lewes and Horsham are good options for scenic pottering. Did you have a particular type of charity shop in mind? The Lions bookshop in Burgess Hill is great.

Horsham definitely

Oxted - is the jewel of charity shops.

Go to hospices of the Weald right at the bottom of the hill first - it will spoil you for all others. EVERYTHING - coats, all clothes, all bric a brac is £2. Next door are 2 others that have some great finds for clothes.

It's an affluent area so you'll find some high end stuff mixed in - all £2

Barnardos and St Catherine's Hospice are good too. As is the oxfam. There are a few others too (Cancer Research and Sue Ryder) but they tend to price things by brand (the others don't).

It's my happy place. The deli n the middle of the high street is fab for brunch/lunch or there is a good fancy burger place and various cafes. Good sit down fish and chips shop too.

There's an Everyman cinema too - which has sofas and waitress service. Love it.

Don't park in Morrisons - you'll get fined. There is a car back at the back of the high street. Master Park if you fancy a walk in the sun.

I cannot reiterate how good Oxted is for charity shops. I'm a bit of a charity shop queen and I've got a wardrobe stuffed with(recent finds) boden, hush, Marc Jacob's, Ralph Lauren, free people, phase eight, whistles and jigsaw. - most of which were £2 and if I'm being fancy up to £8.

Guildford itself doesn’t have many charity shops but a Godalming is ten minutes further and has quite a few down the main high street.
