Hi,
As above, I need to get from Tower Hill to Paddington Saturday morning, at about 6am.

I think there's closures, so thinking it might be best for me to run walk to Liverpool St, and pick up the circle line? Would this work? Thanks

Put the journey into Transport for london, it will tell you about closures

Doveyouknow · 13/07/2022 23:08

You could take the 254 to Whitechapel and crossrail to paddington from there. Pretty sure crossrail is running on a Saturday

HaveringWavering · 13/07/2022 23:23

District line to Whitechapel. Elizabeth line to Paddington. Elizabeth line starts running at 6:30 am.

Alternatively walk to Aldgate, 1 stop to Liv street and pick up Eliz line there.

or walk or Santander bike all the way to Liverpool Street.

HaveringWavering · 13/07/2022 23:24

If you do need the Circle line for any reason it goes through Aldgate (nb not Aldgate East). Aldgate and Tower Hill stations are only 5 minutes’ walk apart.

Thorilicious · 14/07/2022 08:09

Thanks all. I did pop it into the tfl site, and it's given me a route on circle line, but says about closures too, so was getting confused. I assume If the closures affected me, it wouldn't give me it as an option?

That’s right. But why are you looking at Circle line when Paddington and Tower Hill are both on the District Line? Is it closed?

that said, Elizabeth line from Liverpool St or Whitechapel will be much much faster, about 10 minutes. That would be the obvious choice unless I am missing something?

As the Elizabeth line only opens at 6:30 am it doesn’t come up unless you put “leaving” in as 6:30 or later in the search.

Walk from Tower Hill to Duke's Place, stop A - ten minutes walk. Take 205 bus all the way to Paddington. Bus should take 30-40 minutes and they run every 5-10 minutes so you won't have to wait long.
A lot of tube lines around there are suspended on Saturday so rather than walk further to another station this would be simpler.

SpikyHatePotato · 14/07/2022 11:27

Do you need to arrive at Paddington at 6am, or leave Tower Hill art 6am? Elizabeth line is generally quickest but first train isn't til 6.30am.
Otherwise, walk to Aldgate East and get the Hammersmith and City, or Liverpool Street and get the Circle. Nb, neither of these will be very frequent at that time on a Saturday - probably a 10-15 minute wait

JorisBonson · 14/07/2022 11:32

The Elizabeth line doesn't run on Sundays yet.

This Sunday there is no Circle line between Edgware Road and Victoria.

I'd get a cab if I were you.

daphneorvelma · 14/07/2022 11:37

Put this all into Google Maps and choose either the time you need to depart or arrive – along with the date – and it will give you a range of options.

She’s travelling on Saturday! It’s in the thread title.

Boris bike? About half an hour.

FFS. I'll put my specs back on!

perimenofertility · 14/07/2022 12:25

She cannot get the circle, district or hammersmith lines, they are all suspended in that area on Saturday. OP, I repeat my suggestion above of bus 205 all the way.

Thorilicious · 14/07/2022 18:47

Thank you all. I'm on a train from Paddington at 630am, so Elizabeth line is out I'm afraid.
The thing I'm getting anxious about is the tfl site gives me this option as a journey, but then states that there's a closure. That's via Victoria though, so I'm hoping it'll just take me round the other way?
I may just end up on the bus, but I'd prefer the tube .

Having to be at Paddington that early also rules out the Metropolitan line from Aldgate.

The Circle line will be running in that direction so you should be fine, but ask in a tube station when you arrive just to be sure. However there might be delays/fewer trains if that early in the morning and works going on elsewhere on the line. Bus is probably a safer bet.

Thorilicious · 16/07/2022 07:03

Just to update, I made it all ok to Paddington and am now on the train to my destination. Thank you all for your help.

HaveringWavering · 16/07/2022 08:37

But how did you get there??!

Thorilicious · 16/07/2022 22:28

Walked from Fenchurch St to Liverpool St, then circle line to Paddington. Even had time to grab a cup of coffee!
