Hi guys,

Any information will be extremely helpful! I am panicking so… I feel so faint!!
I travel on Saturday morning and have lost my passport!

just tickets were over £2000. Travelling with my children who are going to see there grandmother whose quite unwell. Just under a year ago, children’s grandfather died and we could not see him or go funeral due to covid. So finally we booked to go and see grandmother who is not well after husband death…in case anything happens.

i myself suffer from mental health and physical stuff (under physio, occupational therapist etc).

I have no idea what to do…I will not be able to afford going for a very long time if I miss this flight… Day premium says no appointment available try again later in the day. I am so so desperate…

My 7 year old saw me literally bringing the whole house down and is crying that she is still going to… she hates me!!!
Oh god…

At the risk of sounding like Captain Obvious...where did you last have it?

Aquamarine1029 · 13/07/2022 22:43

You need to calm down, op. The passports are there, somewhere.

Duvetdweller · 13/07/2022 22:45

Firstly calm down. Secondly, I know it’s the obvious question but when did you last use it? No necessarily for travel, ID maybe?

incognitodorrito · 13/07/2022 22:46

When did you last use them ? Could they be in the front compartment of your suitcase ?

incognitodorrito · 13/07/2022 22:49

Or the car glove compartment ? Honestly, get some sleep and when 7 yr old DD at school, tear the house apart tomorrow. Do you have travel insurance ? It won’t cover lost passports, but it may cover sudden illness making it impossible for you to travel …

WeAreTheHeroes · 13/07/2022 22:50

Stop panicking and search room by room, systematically. Where did you last have the passport and could it be in bag or wherever you store suitcases?

DDDN · 13/07/2022 22:54

Omg I cannot calm down…. I think I will have a breakdown! I usually leave it in either the document boxes or my underwear drawer…. Last time I believe I took it out was to draw out money from bank which was around March…but i recently saw it, maybe a couple of weeks ago and said ‘oh i need to put you somewhere safe because Ill be using you soon…’ my husband says you must have accidentally thrown it away when you cleaning up the kids drawers or something - the kids drawers are next to the document drawers…..

oh gosh guys - I know its my fault… but grandma is expecting the kids ( she has not seen the little one) what if she gets worse if we tell her we cannot come? My husband would be so upset…poor thing! He did not even get to see his dad when he died….

Is your husband travelling too ? So worse case scenario is he travels alone with kids ? You haven’t thrown it away, it’s there somewhere.

PresidentByeThen · 13/07/2022 23:00

Have you moved both sets of drawers?

I mean out, away from the wall, the backs swept and every drawer removed. Feel each cavity above and below.

flowerstar19 · 13/07/2022 23:06

Did you have to scan it, maybe still in the scanner section of your printer? Good luck Xxx

Houseplantmad · 13/07/2022 23:06

My colleague lost his family’s passports. They were pushed back in a drawer as they’d got stuck in the top part of the drawer. Take the drawers out and check behind, above etc. good luck.

stayathomegardener · 13/07/2022 23:07

Try under the bed.

Look with fresh eyes tomorrow.

GodisaBC · 13/07/2022 23:08

look behind the drawers, take them out and put them on the floor.
I’d do it tonight so you can sleep once you’ve found it.

buttermut · 13/07/2022 23:09

Take a deep breathe and carefully go through your documents - piece by piece. Empty that cabinet and calmly work through it. Look on top of the fridge, throughout your wardrobe and on top and perhaps in the bag you used when you went to the bank with it. It is somewhere in your house.

DDDN · 13/07/2022 23:16

Guys!! I found it!! I found it!! Omg omg! Guys thank for telling me to check. I went back and checked it had fallen between papers!!! Omg guys!….

So glad for you!!! Flowers

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/07/2022 23:19

Agree completely pull out all drawers and check the bottom

i've lost my passport twice. Once was in folder thing I kept everything in. I'd put a magazine in wanted to keep in there and the passport got stuck within the pages

second was in random bag in boot of car

flowerstar19 · 13/07/2022 23:19

Hurray!

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/07/2022 23:19

Cross post! Great news

BronwenFrideswide · 13/07/2022 23:19

You do need to calm down @DDDN frantic, panicky looking will not find it, you need to be methodical.

The last poster on here to lose their passport found it where it was supposed to be but it had become lodged between the drawer it was in and the drawer above. So, get out all the drawers, look behind each of them to make sure it isn't behind them, check sides, and the bottom of other drawers, check carefully to make sure it has not slipped or become wedged.

goingtotown · 13/07/2022 23:20

Coat pockets.
Glove box in car.
Luggage pockets.
