If I'm given £30 from sales but they have taken 20% commission already. What was the amount before commission?

£37.50?

BlueMumDays · 12/07/2022 10:00

Yes 37.50

The 30 you have been given is only worth 80% of the full amount.

Goneback2school · 12/07/2022 10:01

If 20% has been taken away that means the £30 is 80% of the original sum. You need to find 100%. So 30÷80= .375
.375×100=£37.50

Yes £37.50. If they've taken 20% off the total, they've given you 80% of the total so (£30/80) is 1% of the total, multiplied by 100

It’s just 30/0.8=37.5
