How to keep a toddler cool

My 2 year old hates the heat. As do I!
She was really struggling yesterday and was so uncomfortable at night - I had a fan on full blast in her room and her door open but it's a small room and the baby monitor still said it was 30 degrees. She finally fell asleep in only a nappy but was still red and sweaty!

I've been trying to Google if there's anything I can buy like a cooling mat or anything but can only seem to find ones for dogs!

Our house is a heat trap. I do everything I can but it's still bloody awful.

Any tips to keep a small grumpy human comfortable in the heat?

Amazon have a cooling mat for people, though I can't see an issue with using a dog one. You could damp a sheet with cool water to drape over her as well. During the day, go outside early, keep all the blinds shut, maybe a lunchtime cool bath and put a top on without drying her. Good luck, my DC aren't keen on the heat either.

A 2 year old will fit on a dog mat though so that should work for her

I use my dogs' cooling mat Grin

frozen bottles in front of the fan. Helps cool the air

If she naps in the day, could you adjust her bedtimes so she is going to sleep later when its cooled down a bit? To give her room a chance to cool off.
Mine have a tiny room too, so on very hot days I put them to sleep in the living room and then move them, so you avoid all the hot bodies, stressing about sleep in a tiny room, as it feels like it makes it hotter. But I know that won't work if you have other children.

I've been filling a hot water bottle with cold water and a few ice cubes for DS to have in bed. I put it in while he's getting ready for bed to cool the sheets then he lies against it. I take it out of his bed when I go to bed

How are naps- my 20 month old didn’t nap yesterday and it was a lot easier putting to bed.
also wash their hair before bed, letting it dry naturally will cool them down.
Do you have a paddling pool, even if she just stomps around in it, it will bring her body temp down a couple of degrees in the day.
