Lunchbox cakes

Have you ever bought them? Would you buy them? What would you be ready to pay for one?

They are tiny 4 or 5 inches cakes. They can basically fit in a takeaway box. They are decorated to look simple and cute.

Here are a few examples.

Never bought one. Might consider it for a friend to say "Congratulations" or something, if it was easy for me to do (i.e. as easy as getting her a bunch of flowers or something instead). Wouldn't want to pay more than about £7, preferably under a fiver.

I'm guessing it would be tricky for you to make it that easy for me to get it, and you wouldn't be able to make much of a profit on it at that price, so I'd imagine I'm not your target market.

The super cutsie types like the one attached are the most popular

Thank you.
I'm not selling them but they are very popular right now.
The ones I saw were 16 pounds

Ah sorry, your post read to me like you were scoping out interest.

£16?! Maybe if they were completely handmade using top quality ingredients by a skilled baker/decorator and delivered directly to the recipient in a gorgeous box with a card… but even then, I'm not in a demographic that can spend that kind of money for a cute gesture.

I know, I find it crazy too! The box they come in is just a regular white fish and chips type takeaway box

Do you live somewhere a bit fancy? Grin

Oceanus · 12/07/2022 02:53

Is this a pop up inside Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles? 🤔

I was going to say £2-2.50! They look like bog standard fairy cup cakes with a bit of ready made icing on top? People who pay £16 for 1 are fools!

daretodenim · 12/07/2022 06:03

When I was younger I rem never there were mini cakes with messages on them. They tended to have royal icing and be sole in a clear plastic box. Never tasted that good.

So if these are all handmade and taste good then perhaps it would be worth it. Perhaps.

ReeseWitherfork · 12/07/2022 06:10

The purple cupcake on IG makes mini cakes and they look incredible. But I feel like these a world away from what you’ve posted OP.

I got one for DP for her birthday and she isn't super into cake so something small sounded perfect. Very very basic decoration, 3 layers and a simple box. Diferent country, so pricing is completely diferent, but it was more expensive than I'd imagine. It was DELICIOUS and she loved it, probably because the ingredients were high quality.

DaftyLass · 12/07/2022 18:25

What's with all the price of cake threads, I'm sure this is the third one I've seen in chat in the last 24 h?
