Just having a moan

Staying at my parents for a few days, they live near the coast and I've been out all day on my own with my 2 young kids, then got them bathed and into bed and been pottering around tidying up. Poured myself a glass of wine and sat down around 10pm in another room to literally chill out for an hour, and make a list of a few things I need to get for our upcoming holiday and then head to bed. Dad was in the other room watching tv and has come in on his way to bed and just had a go at me, saying I shouldn't be drinking on a Monday night and then just huffed off to bed! I was just having one glass of wine after an enjoyable but tiring day and was feeling quite chilled out and now I just feel really annoyed! I'm in my 40's and it's nice to get a change of scenery and a break from work, was I really so wrong to pour a glass of wine??

Obviously no one wants to listen to me moaning tonight! Am safely tucked up in bed now after my reckless one (large) glass of wine on a Monday night, feeling like a naughty teenager who was raiding their parents drinks cabinet when they weren't looking! Ah well, was a lovely day apart from that, feeling happy to be heading home tomorrow!

Sorry I am on the app and only see what appears. No you're not unreasonable. He's just a grumpy old man

up.

bloodywhitecat · 12/07/2022 00:46

Wine with breakfast on a Tuesday should send him into an absolute spin then!

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2022 00:48

Sympathies, my dad would be exactly the same. Tiresome, isn't it?

Hope you enjoyed relaxing with your wine.

Make sure you do the same tomorrow 😉

If you drive, get in your car tomorrow morning- because you are >17 and have passed your test and you can, drive to the shop, buy some chocolate with your own money that you made yourself and your parents didn't give you, and eat it for breakfast. Because you can. Save a bit to have for when it's nearly dinner time, if you feel like it. (It doesn't actually "spoil your dinner") .

Parents never stop parenting 🙄

Seriously I hardly drink at all, think one or two guns once a week. My mum still talks about all my wine drinking. I don't even drink wine anymore and only ever had the odd glass previously 🤷🏻‍♀️
