What time are your 16 year old school leavers having to come home?

I’m struggling to work out what’s reasonable for my 16 year old son now he’s left school. I understand he wants to be out now exams are over but we’re still working so can’t be up waiting for him/picking him up. I make sure he lets me know where he is and that he’s inside somewhere after dark and not just hanging around, but what time would you say they need to be home? He’s relying on cabs too which are expensive. Struggling to find a balance between loosening the apron strings but still being a responsible parent! 🙈
Thank you!

I'm dreading this stage.

Its a fight to get our 15 year old in. There will come a point where I'm going to have to just say he doesn't have a particular time but I know full well he will be rocking up at 2am and fucking up college.

16 and having left school, I would say come in at 12 but going to sleep and hoping for the best.

Thank you. Yes it’s tougher to navigate than I expected! He’s out again now with a group of friends.

What do others do? It’s easy when they’re younger and you have more to do with their friends’ mums to see what they’re all being allowed to do..!

Mine is slightly older but didn't have a specific curfew at 16, general expectation was home by 12 with a text letting me know when leaving and when back and we always knew roughly where he was and who with. He could stay out later for something like a party although had to know how he was getting home (usually one of the parents collected)

Now at 17 he comes home when he likes but is usually back by 1am and I still like him to text me when home. Seems to work well for us.
