PTA would organise a yearly summer fun night in the school’s grounds - we had a rock climbing wall, face painting, horse and carriage rides, bouncy castles, inflatable slides etc. One year one of the parent members leading the organisation of the event decided to order a ‘fun bus’ like the ones you would hire to come to your house for kids parties. What actually arrived (with all of the kids, teachers and parents watching on) was a stripper bus, complete with its own pole dancer!! Whilst we were attempting to sort the situation out a few of the younger kids ended up getting into the bus. Inside it there was a cage, fluffy handcuffs, whips, baby oil, everything! Thankfully the kids were too young to understand what any of it meant but it’s still a vision burned into my memory to this day🤣 In the end we sent the bus away and there was no harm or offence caused (we were lucky it was a very small and tight knit school and everyone, principal included, just laughed it off), but it’s still a story DD and I (who’s now 18) giggle about all these years later

Smallish village school. Police turn up at a school disco to charge a member of the PTA with Breech of the Peace.

Annual sausagegate, whereby the rest of the committee get lectured in the most patronising manner by the then chair about what size of hot dogs to buy for the summer fair. Complete with gesticulations and comparison to an A4 notepad.

Over the years more power struggles and coups than the Westminster Government have seen.

And it got madder after I left.
