DofE expedition this weekend

If your DC are due to do the Bronze expedition this weekend and you're in an area of the country where it's due to be very hot, just wondering if any concessions have been made to their trip.

DS's group have been told they have to carry at least 4 litres of water each, which on top of the rest of the kit, tents, stoves etc does seem a bit extreme in the forecasted heat.

These are great, you can probably get them in a local sports shop or some big supermarkets sell them (or similar brands) highfive.co.uk/collections/hydration-tablets

Dd did Silver last weekend in 30 deg. Imo it's worth getting an 'all day' suncream. Boots do small tubes if Once for kids which lasts 8 hours. One small tube did her whole weekend as she had shoulders undercover. Less weight to carry too.
She was fine v hot and tired but loved it!

Well that went well!
just back from picking DS up (3 hour round trip) with headache and vomiting so assume has heat exhaustion. At least 4 other parents doing the same trip. Some of the other kids looked awful too.

DS is gutted but knows he.had to come back.

DS is a keen sportsman and so is pretty fit so do worry about some of the other boys tomorrow.

Oh no @BlueBloodedBlue ! How's he doing now, is he better for a trip in the hopefully air-conditioned car?

He's much better this morning, thank you. Starving hungry and back to his delightful stroppy self, which I guess is a good sign 🙄😁
