Went to a concert last night with a friend. Lots of people in band t-shirts at the gig and lots of band merchandise available at the venue.
On the train home there were lots of people in band t-shirts. We'd had a brief chat with peoeple next to us about how great an evening it had been.
A man got on just before the train doors shut and sat in the seat opposite us. Wearing a band t-shirt. From his bag he got out 2 more t-shirts (£30 apiece) and a hat (£25) all with band logo on.
My friend said to him, "Wasn't that a great concert?"
Man scowled and said, "Not really. I'm from New Zealand and I don't really care about them."

Still baffled as to why anyone would pay in excess of £150 (including ticket price) if they weren't interested.

He was there with his partner, his partner loves that band! He did all he could to win the partner's heart - wearing the t-shirt and buying the shit - but he can't cope with his partner's adoration of one of the band members. They had words, he stormed off and left said partner waiting for a selfie.

He was crying into his cornflakes this morning.

His partner is doing the walk of shame as we speak 🚶

I went to a Chris Isaak concert a few years ago, similar thing, on the tube coming home guy asked if I'd enjoyed it. I said yes did you? He said he did but how strange that Chris had had the one song out - 'Wicked Game' years ago then done nothing since! Err well, nothing apart from the 8 or 9 albums he'd had out over the years! People are strange 🤔

Maybe his friends back home asked him to buy them, or planning to sell them, if he knew they are popular back home.

That could be it, if he broke up with his partner at the gig as he got on the train on his own.

grape all their merch is readily available online, so I still can't work out why he'd go to a venue, pay to see a band & buy all that stuff. Maybe his friends are very generous but don't have the internet.

Was he there working and/or selling t-shirts outside?

MistyRock · 10/07/2022 15:18

I would presume he was selling the merchandise.

AlisonDonut · 10/07/2022 15:24

Which band OP?

ZarquonsSandals · 10/07/2022 16:25

snowy & misty no he was nothing to do with the sales. The clothing etc could only be bought from a single point inside the building. He wasn't on the merch stand.

Alison - Midnight Oil.

I'd guess he was selling knock off stuff outside

ZarquonsSandals · 10/07/2022 18:39

Nobody selling anything outside the venue. I guess he was just a miserable sod.

Ha ha. Probably.

He'd been gifted the ticket and tasked with buying band merchandise and he was annoyed that he had been such a pushover. He is planning to do some assertiveness training classes before the Harry Styles gig next weekend.

Summer that could very well be it!
