Anybody from Cumbria?

And would you give me some ideas of things to do today!
We have just moved to Cumbria from Brighton and we are really excited about all the long walks we will be going on.

However I am currently 6 months pregnant and feeling like garbage. Everything I have seen that I want to do involves a lot of walking.
Please please does anybody have any ideas for a nice afternoon out, without too much walking, for my partner and I. We will be exploring Carlisle in the week as I have an appointment at the hospital then, so that's out for today.
I really need a break from the seemingly endless unpacking 😁

I remember doing the Settle to Carlisle train years ago which was very pleasant.
Boat trip?

Wetoopere · 10/07/2022 08:57

Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite is lovely

Take a launch on Ullswater or Coniston

Crazy Golf in Keswick and a wander to the lake

Whereabouts are you?

@Wetoopere we're about 20 minutes out of Carlisle. Happy to drive for hour or two though!

Carlisle has got a castle, as @Wetoopere mentioned. There's the Tullie House museum as well. You are well placed to go to all of the Roman things along Hadrian's Wall too, like Birdoswald. There's an RSPB sanctuary at Solway Firth - very peaceful, lovely walk but on proper boarded paths, which might be important if you're pregnant.

Today you could head to Talkin Tarn park or Watchtree nature reserve - got a café etc. I'm in S Lakes and it's cracking the flags today😁

When your little one is born and older, highly recommend Walby Farm Park - absolutely brillant place

Also Hutton In the Forest is a nice hall to look round. Or Dalemain. Both near Penrith.

@Yamyam13

I’ve never heard of there so thanks! I’ll definitely give it a go

I live about 45 mins from Carlisle, ever need anything feel free to message :) I’m 8 months pregnant now and walking places is definitely a struggle which is annoying in such a beautiful place!
