NHS app and covid pass

My ds has just turned 18 and is wanting the NHS app so that he can prove his covid vaccination status when he goes on his first holiday abroad with friends.
However he is having problems getting the app. It has asked him to prove his ID so he downloaded his driving licence and forwarded it. App says they will get back to him within 2 hours but 3 days later nothing!

I can only see troubleshooting re technical problems but cannot find a helpline number and he is getting anxious.
Can anybody point me in the right direction and will he be able to take a letter from the GP instead? ( Balearic Islands)
Thank you.

I don't think you can get a letter from your GP. You can request a letter via the NHS App.

Did he get as far as the bit where you have to do a video of yourself reading out the numbers?

If he's fully vaccinated you can get
the covid travel pass letter in the post. Just follow links on gov website after googling. He will need his NHS number. Came in post in about a week, I got all 4 of ours although I had the app I read that sometimes it crashes and people were getting stuck at airport unable to open it. Paper one has a QR code they zap at airport. Accepted for most countries we are going to mainland Spain.
