What do you have for tea/dinner on hot summers day?

Looking for inspiration, so just wondering what others tea on a warm day. We often have salmon, pizza or quiche (sometimes homemade, sometimes I cheat!). Always with salad which we like. I often make potato salad or couscous, sometimes coleslaw or new potatoes. Tonight we're having quorn fajitas, again with salad.

I like curry or other spicy foods - think about what they eat in hot countries, it's not salad!

Jersey Royals with some sort of crispy chicken, salad and coleslaw.

Love the title. Giving me culinary meatloaf vibes. To answer your question, I cook alot of meat and we have cold sides and dips with it. For example we will have chicken with wraps and salad or crispy beef rice salad. We lose alot of weight in Summer but probably feel at our best to be fair 🤣

Rice and salad is our staple in the summer! Served with salmon, sea bass, chicken breast or sausages.

Last night was lentil pasta (new to me - was great as standard pasta doesn’t agree with me) in tomato sauce with mozzarella balls stirred in, with salad.

We’re not big fans of pasta or potatoes in my house so often go for rice. Wish I could persuade DC to eat quinoa or bulgar wheat for variation as I love those.

I don't think hot food is the problem, it's heating the house up by cooking indoors. Do you have a bbq?

Tomato and mozzarella salad with cold cooked chicken and mango dessert

Heroicallyl0st · 08/07/2022 09:59

Oh or bacon with rice and salad. I’m all for super quick and easy meals after work!

Tapas style things from the fridge.

Carrot and walnut salad, Waldorf salad, cheese & boiled egg platter, dips and pittas like taramarsalata and hummus.

Oh my favourite thing in the world is roast chicken with salads. The chicken can be cooked but cold.

I always do salad caprese and usually a green leaf salad with seeds and nuts and mint, coriander, lime jucie and loads of parsley.

Agree roast chicken is still lovely.

I quite like rubbing a curry paste on it before cooking and then baste a few times throughout to stop it burning.

Serve with salad, dips and warm naan.

Yum

Nothing that requires me standing at a hob. For this evening... salmon with some sort of potato product (M and S rosti tonight), cherry tomatoes, onion, peppers and courgettes all done in the oven for 15 min.

BadAtMaths2 · 08/07/2022 10:59

We did a spatchcock chicken the other night with crispy new potatoes and salad.

Salmon on the bbq last night with roasted veg and couscous.

Chicken kebabs on bbq.

do a lot of bbq in the summer.

reluctantbrit · 08/07/2022 11:01

Anything as normal apart from the fact that I don't use the oven for longer roasts.

We do eat outside so even a spicy curry is not causing any issues.

picklemewalnuts · 08/07/2022 11:03

I'd planned a stir fry for dinner but think I'll make a salad instead!
Still have to cook the chicken though...
