Recipe share - store cupboard spaghetti

Sharing this because it has cleared all plates and was made with ingredients to hand.

Boil water and cook spaghetti.

I gently fried off some streaky bacon in a generous glug of olive oil. Added four or five cloves of garlic, minced. A sprinkle of chilli flakes from a jar in the cupboard. When the bacon was nice and crispy I took off the heat and then added some finely chopped parsley from the garden.

Added spaghetti straight over, twirling in the tasty oil.

Tonight we had some parmesan in the fridge so we had that too, not necessary. In fact, the first time I made this I didn't have the streaky bacon and we just added spaghetti to the garlicky, chilli, parsley oil and it was still really tasty.

Obviously you could add veg but simplicity was the key tonight.

Sounds delicious, I will try this, many thanks for sharing as it also sounds a low cost recipe which is what many of us need just now.

I think it's dead cheap (we have the parsley in the garden, and always have garlic / spices to hand) but I know not everyone has that.

Sounds good! We often have an Italian classic- garlic, oil and chilli pepper flakes with spaghetti. Very nice.

Sounds cheap and tasty but I couldn't call it an evening meal without vegetables or salad. It's the sort of thing my teen ds would cook as a snack.

Oooh sounds delicious, can be made coeliac friendly with GF pasta and its tomato free which I'm always on the look out for. (DS2 is coeliac and allergic to tomatoes)
