Countdown (the TV show!)

Just having a random Countdown vent but Anne Robinson is such an arse with the contestants! So pleased she's leaving, you can sense the atmosphere between her and Rachel from a mile off as well. I much preferred Nick Hewer, I haven't read who her replacement is but hopefully it makes it more enjoyable to watch....

I thought that watching it yesterday. The whole 'nasty' shtick hasn't aged well, to say the least. It just made for uncomfortable watching, and Countdown is supposed to be the TV equivalent of your favourite slippers.

She's spent the whole show taking the piss out of a contestants perfectly lovely hair, there's another guy she seems to be making very uncomfortable as well? I agree about the uncomfortable watching! She near enough barked at one of the blokes to hurry up earlier. I feel like Rachel is trying to play her down a little and make the contestants more comfortable at least. Didn't think I would ever have so much to say on this topic 😂.

She leaves next week. Colin Murray who at least engages with the game is taking over.

Anne Robinson has been terrible as a host. She was always completely wrong for the role, and is worse than I could have expected. The new host is Colin Murray, who has been a guest host from time to time. He will be much better. No way is Countdown ready to be retired.

I don't think I have ever seen an episode where Colin Murray has been a stand in but will most certainly be watching when he starts. I don't think it's ready to be retired either but what a mistake they made with Anne!

Oooh - is Colin Murray taking over permanently? I saw a lot of it with him on last year but stopped completely once that witch was in the seat.

I had to stop watching it she's really irritating! They should have given the job to Colin Murray and be done with it,

We taped countdown every day and watched it during breakfast before work. (sad alert).

Stopped watching completely due to AR. She was all kinds of wrong. She also did not seem to respect the game or the contestants.

I haven't seen any of the guest episodes with Colin Murray presenting, but I know he is a superfan of the show and has said it's one of his dream jobs. He's very good friends with Susie Dent (look up their 5Live interview from a few months ago), so I think he'll take the show back to what it should be.
