Hoping for some help Sad

Was anxious all weekend about catching the bug off my kids, thought I was in the clear and then 26 hours ago started bad.
I really thought I'd be better by now but I am so ill still.

I've managed 1/4 of an apple and about a glass of water in 24 hours.

Any quick fixes or personal remedies for stomach bug/flu?

Activated charcoal is meant to be good ive heard I assume it’s from health food shops

The last bug I had really knocked me for six and after 3 or 4 days I called the drs as just couldn't do anything. Dr advised me to drink lemonade, just little sips but throughout the day, it did work and after a few hours could manage some food. Before I couldn't even keep water down.

The problem with stomach bugs is they do kind of run their course but it's really saps your energy levels which makes you feel worse

Nothing but water til you can keep that down (boiled and cooled) then flat full sugar coke, then BRAT diet

They have to run their course OP but ice lollies are great for staying hydrated. Lucozade sport tastes much better than those disgusting rehydration sachets too and doesn't taste so bad coming back up (sorry TMI) Eat plain toast or dry cereal. Hope you feel better soon!

If you can face it full fat flat coke is good.

Then the BRAT diet for a few days. I only did the banana and toast but bit it stayed down.

And rest!

Oh I feel for you OP. I had a stomach bug at the beginning of last week and I felt horrific!
To be honest it took 2 days of full rest to feel even vaguely normal and I barely managed anything to eat for three full days.
The only silver lining is that I lost some much needed weight last week however do not recommend!
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Water based ice lollies for hydration (not dairy based lollies as they "feed" the bug).

I find Yakult always speeds up recovery.

Ginger nut biscuits - helps to quell any nausea feeling
Dioralyte - to replace lost sugars and salts (or lucozade)

Acidophilus capsules helped me get over a nasty stomach bug from travelling. I recommended to a friend and she said it really helped her with something similar.

Owlcat42 · 06/07/2022 19:37

A friend recommended this after I came back from Mexico with a stomach bug that just wouldn't shift: www.optibacprobiotics.com/uk/product/saccharomyces-boulardii-40-capsules

I'm fairly sceptical about woo-woo supplements, but was willing to try anything at this point. Started taking it and was fine within 24 hours. It could have been placebo effect, or just coincidence, but I really was astounded at the time. You could give it a go with the smallest pack - you'd know from that whether it was going to work or not

Thank you everyone - seem to be turning a corner in the past hour! Ice lolly seemed to help!!

@Daisychainsandglitter yes, I was shocked - this afternoon I weighed in 4kg lighter than yesterday morning!! Confused

Glad you are turning a corner and hopefully starting to feel better @xmasaries

OMGOMGOMGHELP · 06/07/2022 21:09

Glad you're feeling a bit better @xmasaries I find sports drinks help as they're easier to keep down than water. I keep a packet of the tablets you dissolve in the cupboard just in case. this afternoon I weighed in 4kg lighter than yesterday morning!! DH and I lost 11 kg between us the first bug DC1 brought home from nursery. I lost all my pg weight!
