Hi
Last year (I think about August) I came out of a supermarket to find a lady stood by my car waiting for me, she said someone had hit my car attempting to park and drove off, the lady was lovely and gave me the drivers car details.
I called my insurer (Hastings), they confirmed that the driver was in fact insured by them too. The damage was cosmetic, the car was still road worthy and I took my sweet time booking the job in as I couldn't be bothered meeting the courtesy car etc, had other things going on. Eventually I got the work done through Hastings approved garage, arranged by them and forgot all about it.
This week I received a text to check my emails, they emailed me to say that the driver of the other car was denying the incident and Hastings were asking for details of the witness (which I don't have anymore, it was nearly a year ago) I think they took those details at the time, but I can't properly remember.
Is there a chance that I could have to pay excess for this or claim on my insurance?
I thought liability would have already been established to approve the job and I would not have had the work done through my insurance (if at all) had it not been on the understanding that it was on the scuff and run guys cover.
TBH the marks would still be on the car now if I had thought I'd have to pay for it.
They haven't actually asked me for anything yet, I'm just preempting because things are tight right now and my head runs away with me sometimes. Thanks for reading. x
