As I understand the parcel was a special delivery so needs signing for but nobody was in so it would've been sent back to the sorting office either for a redelivery or collection. When I log in to track the parcel it's saying it's 'pending proof of delivery' so when I click on that it then says 'proof of delivery' and has the surname printed and then a signature underneath - this means it's been signed for surely ? I'm being told otherwise you see and just don't understand if it hasn't been collected how on earth has it been signed for

I will try and post the pictures of what I'm getting

Sorry, obviously I have blacked out the signature and surname etc

Looks like the delivery person jumped the gun and assumed someone would be in to sign. They then corrected that when no one was there to sign.

Maybe the post man signed for it, then realised he couldn't fit it through the letterbox/find a safe place to leave it?
I'd call the delivery office and ask them if it's there.

royalmailconfusion · 05/07/2022 18:27

But surely the postman can't just sign for someone's parcel in there surname too??

Wouldn't have though they should.

However, the relevant note is the most recent, that the package is available for redelivery or collection. End result is you still get it.

I think it's another ridiculous Covid measure, the postman that comes to my office doesn't hand his tablet thingy and pen over for signing anymore, he signs himself, albeit once he's handed the package over to us.

I've just called them and they couldn't explain it - she was a little lost for words. Yes the person will still receive it once they collect it but I always thought it was fraudulent to sign someone else's name ?! Or have I got that wrong ? Just very misleading isn't it, there's me thinking the person intended to receive it has signed for it when they haven't it's the postman lol
