Primary school shoes. Geox?

Evening all!
Ds will be starting primary school in September. For nursery he currently wears Skechers black trainers but to be honest they have been awful quality!
I have seen Geox (I think the style is savage) with a thick rubber toe piece to help protect against scrapes. Does anyone know if they're any good or can recommend something that can withstand heavy wear. I've read a few reviews on Geox saying some styles can be quite stiff.
He can wear black trainer style.

My dd wears geox ones similar to the savage they seem to be sturdy enough. She's sad to be giving them up fir yr 7 in September.

Her Ultimate favourite and highly rated fir sturdiness is the start rite Tarantula she was gutted when she outgrew the biggest size

My two have worn Geox all through primary. I've no idea what styles they've had, but every pair has been hard-wearing. No complaints about comfort either.

whatever shoes fit best. they need to wear them for a long time each day.

All 3 of mine (including DD) have geox savage for school and as long as they don't have a mid year growth spurt they've always lasted the year. Plus none of mine are gentle on shoes!

Ds has always had geox for school. I think they’re really good quality. He wears a formal style geox now he’s at secondary. Still very pleased with the quality.

My nursery age boy wears the geox savage shoes and they’re fabulous. He’s got a lot going on and is a tree/fence/wall climber/escapee and they have stood up incredibly well to his climbing antics as well as his one sided toe dragging when walking, being used as the braking system on his scooter or trike and countless soakings are wellies are total sensory overloads for him so he stays in shoes when the other children change to wellies.
Two pairs (his feet grew, not replaced due to wear and tear) have lasted this whole academic year, whilst the girl child has gone through 4 pairs of shoes and she is much more gentle on her footwear!
Amazon quite often have excellent prices on them if you hunt about. Our last pair were £13!

Thank you! I didn't want to be dithering over which brand to choose when I do eventually get him fitted for some in August. At least I know now to go for Geox! If they don't fit right then I'll give Clarks a try.

I've come to realise I need to only buy geox. My son destroys everything else.
These have lasted til outgrown!
We have had ankle boot style ones and some black more like school ones
( our school don't give a monkeys about what colouer they are and both have been
excellent )

Geox savage are not what they once were - check the reviews on Amazon. All my boys had these over the years and I've been pretty happy with them but our last pair only lasted a term before the "leather" peeled off leaving white patches of the synthetic fibre visible. Seems quite a few people had this problem.

Startrite Rhino are totally bombproof and I'd recommend them above Geox these days.

DD is size 7 1/2 and above H in width. No shoes in Clarks fitted her, so I took her to a local independent shoe shop, that is highly regarded.

There were only two pairs in the whole shop that fitted her, and the one that fitted her the best was Geox.

I was initially happy that I found something that fitted her. This was last September (for Y7, so not playing in primary and she catches a bus, so no heavy wearing). By Christmas the shoes had split at the sides where her feet were too wide. I don't rate Geox for that reason, which is such a shame, as I cannot find any shoes that fit her width without gaping at the back.

We've had several pairs of Geox shoes and have found them to be better than Clarks. I'd also recommend Hush Puppies - they were almost indestructable!

Oh no, so a few bad experiences with geox then.
It's difficult isn't it, to be honest I'm not expecting them to last the full year as I know he will outgrow them. I just want something better than what he's got. The last three pairs of skechers have only lasted a week each!! Needless to say I won't be buying Skechers again.

I recommend Ricosta. We've tried all of the above over the years, with four children!

The tarantula do look good quality and have great reviews. Sadly ds is autistic and likes his clothes and shoes as plain as possible, the spiders on the shoes will cause problems!

Both my boys wear Geox and they do last.
Also not smelly as lined with leather

Clarks fell apart after 2 months wear

Over the last 9 years with two boys we have mainly had geox school shoes (not sure which style but have had two) and now one is in secondary the ricosta school shoes. Both brands have been excellent quality, great fit and hard wearing. We buy them from a local independent shoe shop and they particularly sell well for kids with wider feet.

DS1 has had a succession of Geox Savage since I last walked into Clarks when he was yR. He is dyspraxic and has slow growing feet and Clarks would fall apart at the seams long, long before he out grew them. I resent having to replace shoddy -overpriced- shoes that don't last more than 3m. DS2 has had a variety of Geox styles but never an issue with quality- he's the football type.
Ds1 is leaving y6 now.

DS has wide, high volume feet and the velcro is long enough to hold them on. The final pair from Clarks was because the 1cm overlap of velcro was inadequate, and the expanse of bare velcro fluffed up daily from the reading rug, so they'd regularly fall off, then he'd mash his feet back in and made the heels sloppy.

always outgrown, never worn out despite dc2 really putting them through their paces!he wore them from reception to year 8 when he finally outgrew them! Every year I got him to try other styles in but we kept coming back to the savage.
