Lost Passport

I’ve come on here to RANT!

We are due to go on holiday 2nd August and my DD (18), has lost her passport at Gatwick last week. I’ve notified both Gatwick and EasyJet, haven’t heard anything back. Passport has been cancelled. I am trying without any success to book an appointment online at any passport office.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Good news is its an adult renewal so you can get the quicker 1 day service not have to wait a week.

Generally advice is to keep trying constantly to get the appointment (or your daughter can as its her mess!) Be prepared to travel anywhere

@Iamacatslave did you have any luck getting an appointment? I’m in the same position....

Hi, pls help me too! Did you get this sorted out? We travel this Saturday and 18 year old DS has lost passport coming back from Portugal last week! Am beside myself.

We travelled to Durham for an appointment at the Passport Office, with the passport arriving 6 days later.

We lost a 19 yo's passport with five days to go to the trip and found there was no way of sorting it, you can't use the day service for lost passports. They went to Wales instead. Sorry.

After 5 days of trying (constantly refreshing the online booking screen) I eventually managed to get an appointment at the Belfast passport office for last Thursday. Not ideal as I live in England but it was the only option to be able to save our holiday. My passport arrived yesterday, so 5 days after. From originally losing my passport to getting the new one has been 3 weeks and that was taking the soonest options at each stage. Could you try just turning up at your nearest pp office with a completed form and photo’s? All the advice says not to but I think I would try it as a last resort. Good luck - it’s a rubbish situation.

Thanks for replying. I’ve tried all day to get an appointment. Quite a few came up for Glasgow and Belfast on Monday. But then they say 7 days for the passport to arrive and we’ll be more than half way though our fortnight away. I’m interested yours arrived in 5 days. Did that include the weekend?

We’re still trying lost property on the train services he went on. Tricky with the train strike as not many staff working today! I’m nervous to cancel the passport until we’ve pursued every possible place it might be. Thanks for replying. Love mumsnet support ❤️

Yes, 5 days including the weekend. I also didnt want to trigger the process in case mine was found but it hasn’t! I’d apply asap I think

So I went up to passport office at 730 this morning and joined the already very long queue of desperate passportless people. I was told that because it was lost, I had a less than 1% chance of anyone seeing me and accepting my form without an appointment. At 930 I got a phone call to say it had been found on the train out of Gatwick and was waiting for us at lost property in Bristol so I came back from London and drove with DS a 5 hour round trip to Bristol. Anyway, we’ve got it. What a relief that I didn’t cancel it! Thanks for all your supportive replies and messages. It was so helpful. X
