Hello,

Contemplating taking DC to Alton Towers for one day and wondering when most DC finish. Are some off from 18th July for example?

Thanks
Gps

Independent school here so finish on Wednesday but my kids are in year 11 and 13 so they finished a while ago.

Even if schools aren't out there are often trips so the parks are busy.

HiyaWishy · 03/07/2022 11:27

Thursday lunchtime here. Two local independents finished last Friday, July 1st.

goingpearshaped · 03/07/2022 11:29

Thanks. Independent finishes Friday, state junior DC not until 22nd. Looks like next week or week after will be busy!

State school in Yorkshire, last teaching day 26th July.

My sister's children's school Friday 22nd July.

Footbal · 03/07/2022 11:41

My DD14 finished on the 28th May and DD12 and DS10 finished on the 28th June.

We live in The Republic of Ireland though and get long summer holidays.

Pieceofpurplesky · 03/07/2022 11:41

Don't forget that loads of schools have reward trips over the next three weeks too. Hundreds of school kids. It's a nightmare

TinaYouFatLard · 03/07/2022 11:41

DD finished yesterday, DS1 and DS2 finish Friday, although DS1’s last school week is a residential abroad.

DS2 is having a bunking off day tomorrow and the two of us are going to Thorpe Park. I would recommend you do the same!

DasGirl · 03/07/2022 11:42

Scotland. Schools all on holiday here already

sanityisamyth · 03/07/2022 11:43

22nd July

PuppyMonkey · 03/07/2022 11:45

July 25th officially, which is a Monday so taking bets on how many kids mysteriously test positive for covid that day.Wink

TulipCat · 03/07/2022 11:48

All theme parks are at their busiest in July and August, there is no quiet day! Best time to go is a random Inset day if you can.

Change123today · 03/07/2022 11:49

I live near a theme park - traffic is busy even during the week! So I think they already quite busy - school trips but also with schools y11/13 & university finished!

listsandbudgets · 03/07/2022 11:51

Whatever you do - if your school breaks up a bit before the others DO NOT go to a theme park. We made this mistake thinking it would be quiet as everyone else at school and it was horrendous as it was full of school trips meaning very long queues and huge crowds. Never again!

Bbq1 · 03/07/2022 11:51

Ds finished school after Gcses on the 23rd June. My school finishes 15th July.

bigbluebus · 03/07/2022 11:52

I'd be more concerned about all the school trips that will be going there in the last few weeks of term.
Most schools here break up on 22nd July but I'm already seeing lots of children of all ages out and about in our county town, so clearly some Indies have broken up already.

listsandbudgets · 03/07/2022 11:52

@TinaYouFatLard for reasons I've just given - i.e. it will probably be crammed full of school trips, I'd advise you think twice
