Beautician didn’t turn up for my appointment!

Had booked in to get my eyebrows done today a few weeks back. I normally go to this lady in my town, she has her own wee shop. It’s just her and another lady that work in it.

Anyway, I arrived on time for my appointment. Couldn’t get into the shop. No sign of anyone in as I could see through the windows, the door was locked and the lights were off.

I stood outside and waited for 15 minutes to give her time just in case she was running a little late and she didn’t show so I rang her mobile number and there was no answer.

I just went home at that point and then I sent her a WhatsApp to say that I was there for my appointment and I waited for her and she never showed. Checked back to see the two blue ticks meaning she had seen my message but she didn’t bother to reply.

I’m now going to have to book in elsewhere but isn’t this really an awful thing to do? She’s always been very good but this has put me right off!

I'd be leaving a factual Google review

WeeOrcadian · 01/07/2022 14:09

Maybe she had a family emergency / loss / bereavement etc?

WhyNott · 01/07/2022 14:10

I can totally understand your frustration but I would wait and see her reasoning, sudden family emergency is forgivable. Couldn't be arsed to get out of bed is not! If she never responds/acknowledges you then go elsewhere. Does she have a Facebook page she might have put a message on to say she was shut?

PurBal · 01/07/2022 14:11

Maybe someone died? It would be odd not to go to work.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 01/07/2022 14:13

Give her a bit of time to explain. If it was an emergency you won't have been her priority.

curiousitygotthebetterofme · 01/07/2022 14:21

Just got a response from her 5 minutes ago. She said “Ah no Julie! (not my real name) I completely forgot that I had you booked in today, would you like me to rebook you within the next few weeks?”

No apology or even an attempt to book me in asap given it was her fault! I might just ask for a refund as I paid in advance

If under normal circumstances she is very reliable I would presume that there had been some form of emergency. Give her a chance to explain before going online and giving her a negative review.

cstaff · 01/07/2022 14:25

Ok just saw your update and that is not a legitimate reason and she is not even offering to do you today or tomorrow. Screw that.

Blowthemandown · 01/07/2022 14:42

That’s awful. The various ones I go to expect to know if I need to change appointment or cancel (quite reasonable - so many people now think it is ok to just cancel without letting people know). Mistakes happen but she should be fitting you in ASAP and giving you a discount or half price next treatment. In this case she should also give you an immediate refund. Tell her you’d like the refund as you will have to find somewhere else urgently as you don’t want to wait. Also I’d be expecting her to be really apologetic and embarrassed, as I would be if I failed to attend for any reason.

Stabbitystabstab · 01/07/2022 14:50

Get a refund.
Beauticians are 10 a penny

ittakes2 · 01/07/2022 15:32

gosh if she is normally very good I would assume an emergency not leaving a bad review!

curiousitygotthebetterofme · 01/07/2022 19:31

Asked her for a refund, two blue ticks, no reply!

Very very bad form, no way would I give her more business.

NellesVilla · 01/07/2022 20:21

So annoying!

And she’s making it look
like she’s doing you a favour by offering to rebook you! Like, Janice, an apology would be nice! And also some thanks for your understanding/loyalty/support as a customer etc!
