Yesterday I had a very faint positive for covide, today the tests are negative. The problem is I also took a tooth infection and couldn't see dentist because of positive test.
She left out antibiotics and said if I felt worse to go straight to hospital in case of sepsis.
I can't open my mouth any wider than one finger width, the jaw swelling hasn't got worse but hasn't improved either. My jaw feels hot to touch.
I emailed the dentist but it closed at 1 today and I've also lost my voice so I'm useless on the phone.
I have a very sore throat on the same side and my face is beginning to get sore.
If I can't open my mouth how will anyone be able to look into my mouth?
I'm all a dither which isn't like me at all.

I’d go. You have tested negative , and you are ill - unless you get help you won’t be able to eat or drink, so you need attention.

LifeIsARollerCoaster22 · 01/07/2022 13:29

Id just go.

When did you start the antibiotics?

I started the antibiotics yesterday, I've taken them 3 times yesterday and twice today.
Its amoxicillin and metronidazole 3 times a day for 5 days.

Call 111 first. They may be able to direct you to a different source of care than A and E.

SheWoreYellow · 01/07/2022 13:41

Take the covid status out of the equation. Even if you were raging positive, if you need care you need care. Tell them about the faint positive and then they can proceed as required.

Cocolapew · 01/07/2022 13:42

I'm in NI we don't have 111. The dentist hasn't got back I'm going to phone their emergency number.

Well the emergency number isnt valid 😒
I'm going to head up to A&E my facial swelling is much worse than this morning and its bright red.

Yes defiantly go to A and E if the antibiotics over 24 hours and it's getting worse.
Good luck hope the wait isn't too long.

Yodaisawally · 01/07/2022 15:06

Go to a and e sounds like a raging abscess, they probably won't treat it but stick you in IB antibiotics until someone can.

This covid shit and no treatment needs to stop.

Cocolapew · 01/07/2022 18:52

I got ready to go, sat on the bed to put my shoes on and I've just woken up ffs.
I phoned a head about the positive test and they said just to mention it when I come in.

Please go to A&E OP. I had oral Sepsis 15 years ago and was saved by the skin of my teeth by my bossy but lovable dentist who ordered me to go to hospital. They are there to help and don't feel like you are wasting anyone's time. Best wishes to you x

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 02/07/2022 07:38

How are you doing @Cocolapew ? Glad you went to be seen

Cocolapew · 02/07/2022 09:07

Thanks for asking I got back around 4.30.
It is my wisdom tooth that is infected, the maxfax Dr came to see me, the Dr in A&E began to think it was a salivary gland infection because of where my swellling was.
I got steroids, paracetamol and antibiotics through a drip to see if it would relax my jaw muscles so my mouth would open, unfortunately it didn't but the maxfax Dr was able to have a better hoke 🙂
I got fluids to try to bring my heart rate down, which fortunately worked or I would have been kept in.
The maxfax Dr wasn't happy that dentists aren't seeing covide patients, she said that people need dental emergencies seen too.
The pain is still slightly settled this morning and I have stronger antibiotics to take instead of the amoxicillin.
Thanks again for the replies 🙂
