Yr 11 prom, so 16 yr olds.
DC want to go to sleepover at opposite sex friends. Maybe 2 or 3 people there. Parents at home

DS1 and his friends camped out with a friend’s Dad in charge.

DD1 had friends stay here.

DD2 didn’t go out after.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t let a 16yo have a sleepover, especially with the parents there.

I had the apres prom sleepover at my house for number 2 son, if I remember correctly there were about a dozen teenagers in a huge ex scout group tent in the back garden. They had a camp fire and a couple of them brought guitars, (one of the girls is a well known singer now, )it was lovely. They are all still close friends over 15 years on.

I guess I am worried about alcohol?

My ds is going to one tomorrow. At his girlfriends house in a group of 8-10 I think, but her parents are going to be there (confirmed, and I'm picking her up tomorrow anyway so will see them) and are v sensible. One of ds's friends from another school went to a camping in someones field type after party and was horrendously ill from alcohol

jackstini · 30/06/2022 12:55

Yes, she went to an after party with friends first l and they got back to the sleepover house about 2.15am

12 of them, 5 girls, 7 boys (No couples)
At one of the boy's houses and his parents were in

Highly unlikely there won't be any alcohol at these things - they are 16!! - but they were pretty good - no one was ill

Yh their girlfriend isnt going, although I already know they are sexually active. But they would t sleep with the girls that are going. Minor alcohol is probably fine, again, they are 16 and I cant imagine this is their first access to it. But I dont know. I dont want to be seen as irresponsible?

DD is having a post-prom sleeepover at ours tonight. Only three of them staying and all girls. They are going to an outdoor ‘gathering’ by the beach after the Prom and then coming back here. There will be alcohol, for sure. At least with them coming back here we’ll know where DD is and be able to help out if any of the girls has had too much to drink!

My daughter went back to sleep at a friend's house with a few other girls after yr 11 prom. Made travel easier. Is it the mixed sex that is worrying you? To be honest, at that age, whatever will be, will be...So long as they get home safely.

Are the parents hosting it known for allowing their teens to have wild parties with unfettered access to alcohol?

DS had a sleep over at one of his female school friends and about 20 others after his prom at 16. Hot tub, drink, music etc. No issues. I picked him up next morning a bit tired and a little hung over.

At 18 he did pretty much the same thing after his prom for his alevels. Again it was a biggish party at a female friends house (Huge pad in the country). Sleep overs, drink and music. Again, even though he has a car, i collected him.

He is a grounded lad. Knows the risks of drink and unprotected sex and respects his female friends. He is currently arranging to go on holiday with 2 of his female pals.

He makes me proud that he can be a young man, able to enjoy himself and be mature enough to make sensible life choices.
