No birds visit my new garden - 🙁 how can I attract them?

In my old garden I had all sorts of birds visit my feeder each day.

I have moved house and sadly all I have seen in two weeks is a pair of wood pigeons and a solitary sparrow!

Is there anything I can do to make them visit?!

Blackbirds won't like your garden - they have to have a lawn or decent flower beds to dig for worms. Sparrows, Robins and tits LOVE a bush/hedge to sit in before and after visiting the bird bath or feeder. Goldfinches love niger seed, but again love the bushes. If you haven't got a hedge I can say that is what all the birds in our garden love - it really is amazing how many birds use them.

Definitely agree with pp about the bushes. We have a little bit of lawn and the rest is pretty wild tbh, but the bushes and trees around the garden are heaving with birds. Sparrows, tits and robins, and we get blackbirds, magpies and pigeons too. I've only just recently got involved with the birds, since I lost my beautiful dog last month, and I'm fascinated by their behaviour!

Patience is the key. Be consistent with putting feeders and something out for the birds who prefer to feed on the ground like blackbirds and robins . It took a year after our building work finished for the birds to cotton on and come back. It should only get better as the three trees we planted mature. We have two cats but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
