Blood tests /private

Hi 👋 I recently had 2 implants. ( just the screws at the moment) one has come out the other is OK but not great. Dentist is hoping my bone regrowth will help hold the one that's still there but that healing has been extremely slow . The one that fell out we are waiting for good regrowth of the bone so we can try again. But for some reason my bone is not replacing very well /slowly.

He has recommended I get a blood test to find out why. I'm (possibly) looking into doing a private blood test. I have tried googling . But nothing is very clear I can't find prices or places that actually do it.

So can anyone guide me on how to do it and the cost ? I'm in South East London.

What sort of blood test is he recommending? I know for skin wound healing they would do a full blood count and a check for diabetes, so FBC & HBA1C. Did the dentist mention anything else?

You could just do an E consult for you GP (or book a telephone consultation) saying the dentist recommended blood tests, they should be happy to do a blood for you.

I'm not registered with a gp. Have not been for years since they removed me for no reason . Just called them one day and they said I have been removed. I have problems with ID as I don't drive or have a passport. So it's hard to register.

Anyway he's not worried about the skin/ wound healing.

It's more to do with the bone . He has mentioned vitamin D. I can't even remember what else he said. I might need to ring them. But I know its all to do with the bone regrowth.

Look for private GPs near you, there will likely be a few in SE London, if not then I can suggest a couple in SW London.

they will chat through and work out which tests you need and then get them done. Does mean you end up paying for the appt as well as the tests but sounds like you need their input anyway.

You need screening for calcium, vitamin D and bone density. I agree with pp that a private GP should be able to take a history and arrange the necessary tests and interpret the results for you. Just ordering a blood test from a private lab isn't going to cover all that.
