This is a mouse one... I live in an old, small Victorian cottage/house and last 2-3 years maybe have had mouse issues, and I got someone to block up holes everywhere, in kitchen, lean-to etc.
Have got a small garden with wood mice living in a tree, very cute and the cat has occasionally caught a few.
I have French windows leading into house as don't want cat flap used (do have it but just don't use) as don't want cat bringing in rodents etc.
Over past few months there's been one dead mouse in living room on floor (at night when I came to get a glass of water I saw it), another dead one in mop bucket in lean to (cat must've been chasing it and it went in there) and finally seen a third one over past 2 weeks in kitchen/living room - definitely looks like a large mouse. I did think cat was bringing in wood mice (they're tiny and quite cute) but I watch her like a hawk and unless my brother is over for the day (sometimes) or stepdad/mum, friends etc I tell them to check the cat if they let her inside.
I don't want to kill this one or any others but I've probably got a problem and need pest control don't I? and to recheck anywhere the buggers are getting in/living/making a home. Any opinions on humane traps or should I get snap traps? A bit loathe to put poison down in case cat gets a mouse with it in.
At least the cat is a pretty good killer!
