We've just received a settlement offer and I wondered if anyone else had, has knowledge of, or would like to discuss in general. It's a reasonable offer we are minded to accept but has triggered awful memories of a dreadful time in our lives we'd tried to put behind us.

We accepted it as my husband just wanted it over. We've been taxed very heavily on it though so that was surprising and disappointing. It was quite distressing tbh seeing it all laid out.

I found this article online apparently the post office will make a top up payment to cover any tax paid on your settlement offer

Oh thank you so much I had heard a report on Radio 4 that this might happen did you accept the offer or argue?

I haven’t accepted yet but I have asked a lawyer to look into it.

It’s good to know that I won’t be taxed on it now as that was a worry. The whole thing has just been so distressing.
