doesn't have to have basil in it. just need to make a tomato pasta salad. its for someone who likes flavour and has to have a soft diet.
any ideas?

I'd just take the ingredients off the pack. Can you not just do that? It might be easier

Im glad you asked this OP as I've never been able to figure out what to use for the tomato sauce for home made pasta salad? I only ever use tinned tomatoes/Passata/purée in hot dishes!

I just use tomato purée, a bit of garlic (fresh or tube), dash of olive oil, basil (fresh or frozen), salt, pepper and most importantly.. a bit of ketchup. I sometimes add diced onions.
the ketchup seems odd but it works.
i do it in a frying pan and gently cook the garlic first in the oil. Then add everything else.
literally 5 mins start to finish.
