Child maintenance questions

Is there any point in having a child maintenance claim open if your ex doesn’t work or claim any benefits? Would arrears still build if someone wasn’t working or claiming benefits? Or they won’t as no money to take? And would the arrears just get written off eventually anyway?

I would simply keep it open.. if he ever starts claiming or working claim is open..

My ex doesn't work. He hasn't in over a decade.. i do claims. He could chose to support his ds properly or restrict his income.

Do the arrears get written off after a while?
