Money spent on weightloss

MrsCooper2 · 25/06/2022 11:43

I have just totted this up and so far in 2022 I have spent £1093 on gym membership/PT sessions and Slimming World subscription.

Here's the kick in the teeth...I weigh 1lb LESS than I did on 1st January. Bearing in mind I have about 80lbs to lose, that is utterly ridiculous.

Pleased to say I have now cancelled the gym and SW so even if I don't lose lbs, I will at least be saving £££s.

I can't even bear to think about how much I have spent over the years 😱

On a side note, my DD did say that when I went to the gym I was so much happier and it really helped with my mental wellbeing.

£1100 to achieve substantial improvement in mental wellbeing sounds worthwhile. What can you do now to keep your mental wellbeing good?

MrsCooper2 · 25/06/2022 22:48

@lljkk I'm fine at the moment. Happy with life apart from the weight tho

Posted too soon...weight is obviously an issue but I do need to start doing something for my mental health. Just not sure what

Why we eat too much

Can you follow a programme at home? I've just started Caroline Girvan's beginner programme on YouTube. Totally free apart from buying some dumbells and a mat if you don't already have one!

Were you using your gym membership? If you were using the gym regularly I wouldn't cancel as the gym isn't necessarily for weight loss and its good to get the exercise.
I would not pay for weight loss programs etc though, I prefer to use my fitness pal although i don't go with the calories it recommends, I work that out on another calculator.

That's a lot of money, I would be happy if it stayed in my bank account. I would try a home program if I were you. Since Jan I have lost 15lbs and my goal was 22lbs by end of June, which I haven't reached yet. Having small goals really helps, I downloaded the free apps, c25k and FitON and did those 3/4 times a week, plus trying not to eat too much, even though that's hard. Hope you reach your goal.

Op have you changed shape?

I know in the past went I dieted and exercised I changed shape before anything was noticeable on the scales.

You must be a lot fitter. Than you were. Can you afford the gym membership if you can I'd keep it but ditch SW.
