I love the skin on custard.

I deliberately let it cool so that the skin forms. I'm a monster I know but it's so good.

Broccoli stalk is my favourite. It's much better than the florets.

Are there any parts of food that most people shun but you love?

And now I'm craving dinner school custard.

Mmmm custard skin.

And the skin on blancmange!

Pears are eaten in their entirety. No namby pamby core avoidance for me

🤮

Skin on rice pudding
Chicken skin
Soggy pastry (the bit that isn't crispy after baking cause its inside)
Birds trifle (don't like 'proper' trifle)

I love that too.

I make custard from powder in the microwave and add twice as much powder so it's thicker than jelly.
Then I eat it cold.
Gorgeous.

I also like the soggy pastry layer that's just under the flaky crust of a Frey bentos pie. I have it in a sandwich.

I know. I'm disgusting.

No regrets.

I'm not much of a pie fan but I agree that the soggy layer on puff pastry is the best part.

Skin on custard or rice pudding is the work of the devil.

Anchovies straight out of the tin then dangled into the mouth however......

Riseabove · 23/06/2022 20:49

I like cold baked beans straight from the tin

When I was younger and we went to my granny's for Sunday lunch, if she ever did a pudding with a custard me and my brother would fight over who got more custard skin. Great Auntie Nan would always get the serving spoon to lick and my grandad would share the custard skin between me and DB. He was never impressed that he didn't get any custard skin as he liked it too but there wasn't enough to satisfy 3 appetites 😁

Good memories!

Yes to soggy pastry, and also Smash and Pasta'N'Sauce... I'll see myself out 😳

WingingItSince1973 · 23/06/2022 21:05

Me too and rice pudding. Just like our primary school puddings of the early 80s 🥰

I prepare broccoli florets for the children then steam the stalk for myself, then stir fry it with a little garlic and soy sauce - delicious.

Crispy skin from the roast chicken.

Chips dipped in marmite is delicious, cheesy chips with marmite is the food of gods and a sure fire hangover cure :-)
