Dreading work tomorrow

Just found out that the AC isn't working again. It was 23c last week with working AC and cooler weather. Forecast says 26/27c tomorrow and I'm honestly dreading it.

I work in a McDonald's, for context, and the same happened last summer. Got up to 34c or so inside and I ended up getting a migraine, throwing up and being sent home.

I have Long Covid too, and it's ruined any heat tolerance I had. I've never been good in the heat but now I feel ill after a few minutes in the heat. I've tried cooling sprays, personal fans, electrolyte drinks and those cooling towels and they don't help much. I don't know what else to try and the sweaty polyester uniform doesn't help at all. Also, because of the LC I get tired very quickly and struggle with that too.

Anything else I can try? It's a nine hour shift too and I just feel like crying thinking about it!

Bump to see if anyone has more ideas for what I can try to stay cool?

Thank you!

I'm not sure if McDonald's uniforms are universal, but I think the staff in our local branch wear quite high-necked black shirts with a collar - could you discreetly tuck a cold / slightly damp flannel around your neck under your collar?

You can keep replacements in the fridge / freezer (assuming you're allowed to at work) and change them over throughout the day.

This is a tip I picked up when I lived in SE Asia and it's surprisingly effective!

I used to keep a spare top in my bag and change halfway through my shift after I had a wipe down with wet wipes

I used one of these last week and got moaned at for it. I have to wear a dark grey polycotton shirt and they just don't breathe at all.

Have a pack of wipes in the freezer right now, and also my ice roller. Also have electrolyte tablets and I'll drink as much as I can.

I coped better before I had Covid but now I get totally over heated. Sitting in short PJs and a vest atm and I'm already sweating.

I genuinely don't know how they're allowed to be open with no AC in this kind of weather. Heard one of the kitchen staff was sent home yesterday with heat exhaustion. So it's just shit all around ☹️☹️☹️
