Self conscious

Is there anything you would really want to do but won't because you're too self conscious. I'd love to do quite a few things but know I never will due to insecurities and being far too self conscious

Lots of things. I'd love to learn to scuba dive, but the thought of donning a wetsuit horrifies me.

There used to be a lot of things I would never do then I got to a point in my 30s I thought "fuck it" and just started doing what I wanted and wearing what I wanted. Splitting up from my emotionally abusive ex helped but it still took me a couple of years to "find" myself again (I know how wanky that sounds but eh... 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Now I'm in my 40s I give even less of a crap and it's actually wonderfully freeing. I wouldn't do anything to hurt other people and I'm much happier not having to hide my weird self away from other people.

Have my photo taken. None whatsoever for at least 7 years.

Does not sound wanky at all.
Sounds wonderful.

Same, I hate it. The mirror can say 'hey you're looking half decent today' the photograph says 'god you look like shit'

I’d love to dance more.

What sort of dancing and what stops you?

I’d like to dance with props like you see people do at festivals (fans, poi etc) - but the only space I could try is in my garden and it’s very overlooked by several sets of neighbours. They’ll see me get it wrong again and again, hit myself in the face etc (I’m really clumsy). I’ve been laughed at my whole life for my clumsiness.

TeaStory, I get you, that thought of being laughed at. But just imagine if you did it and was laughed at but then got so good at it they stopped laughing and admired you. They might not even laugh at you in the first place though.
