Chicken pox question!

DD2 has been sent home from nursery with what they think are chicken pox spots. I know the drill about keeping her off till they've scabbed over, then they shouldn't be contagious so you're okay - but what do I do about DD1? Into school as usual unless I see any evidence of it? Or keep her off because she's almost certain to get it shortly?

Don't want her to miss any more than she absolutely has to - but I also don't want to be the person who spreads it to everyone else! Is there a general rule for siblings? Can't find anything from the school about whether they have a policy.

Your other dd can continue as normal. The incubation period can be up to 21 days so you cant put your life on hold for that amount of time.

Other DD carries on as normal, hopefully for you if shes going to get it she gets it quickly so youre stuck at home for two consecutive periods!

Send her in as normal; she probably will catch it but it took over a week for my second DC to catch it then 5 days off school so it would have been crazy to keep her off for all that time.

Aha! I didn't realise I could be looking at weeks for her to get it. In she goes!!

A friend of mine told me that my 2nd would get her first spot two weeks to the day after her sister got hers and she did... I've seen this pattern a few times since, uncanny!

Yes yes!
Oddly this has just happened to us. Two weeks later bang on same day.

The nursery already has exposed the other kids, they are contagious with Chicken pox for a few days before the spots appear, so it will slowly spread through the children there. Send Dd1 in as normal.
