Position relocated during maternity...

Long time lurker, infrequent poster, name changed... Posted in legal but it's slow and I'm panicking.

I've been informed by my director that my position is being relocated to another country way across the pond. I've been employed for 7 years full time in this role, and am due back from 6 months of maternity leave next month. The settlement agreement is low... They plan to keep on my maternity cover who is based in this other country until they find someone permanent there. It's a very small UK based company, they have no other role to offer me.

I plan to speak to a solicitor, hopefully tomorrow, but does this seem legal, or is it maternity discrimination? I'm really lost :(

Caveat that I was on maternity leave 15 years ago when my role was relocated with most of my dept a few weeks before I was due to go one maternity leave.

I knew the plan, but they couldn't start talking to me about my plans properly until I was 6*months through my maternity leave.

They had to take into account accrued holiday pay and notice periods etc.

*it might have been 9, but easy enough to google.
