Keema - in a slow cooker, no frying?

Has anyone successfully made beef keema in a slow cooker without all the frying? I want to put everything in and go out!

I heard an Indian cook on the radio say that she doesn't do all the browning business before any of her curries - obviously she'll be more skilled but I do want to give it a go.

If you don’t brown the onion first it tastes of raw onion I’m afraid.

Thought so!
