To tell you something funny about my Dad...

He absolutely hates Father's Day. Says it's a load of old shite, to be fair I agree with him. It's commercialised crap, same as Valentine's Day 🤮

A few years ago he went on and on for weeks beforehand saying don't bother, don't waste your money, there's nothing I need etc etc. So I just got him a basic card and didn't bother with a present. Left it in my flat and went to work, it was still in the cellophane I'd not written it out yet. Well he went to my flat that day, I can't remember why now. To do a DIY job for me probably.

Anyway I get home and find the card unwrapped, open on the coffee table with the word "BOLLOCKS!" written right through it.

Happy Father's Day dad!! 🤣💙

My father thinks he should be given a card on Mothering Sunday instead. He says Mothering Sunday is for anyone who does the job/act of mothering whether that be mothers, fathers, nannies, etc. Father's day is just an invention.

😆

My dad, whenever we asked what he wanted for fathers day, would say 'nothing'. So one year my sister washed out a jam jar and taped a piece of paper round it with the words 'jar of nothing' written on it. He loved it and sat proudly on the shelf for years.

The origins of the name Mothering Sunday means returning to worship at your original “mother” church. Usually when children moved away, it was a family event when they came back.

nowt to do with whether your dad mothered you or not
