Teething & temperatures

DS 14 months ate nothing on Tuesday then Tuesday night got a temp of 39.6.
Wednesday Thursday he seemed very uncomfortable. Putting his hands in his mouth, dribble was pouring out so I had a feel in his mouth and could feel the outer edge of an upper molar coming through.
However, his temp has been up and down ranging from 37.2-38.4. There are periods of the day where he will go a good 12 hours or so without medication and doesn't have a temp. Last night spiked a temp of 39 again. Had a feel this morning and there seems to be another molar coming through on the other side.

I know they say that children don't get fevers with teething but previously when I've spoke to my GP about this, she disagreed with this info and said they can absolutely get temperatures while teething.

My question is, should I be worried (I obviously am) that he's had a temp this long?
He has no other symptoms at all other than being off his food which nurofen helps with. I'm thinking it's his teeth but then I'm also worried it could be coincidence and it could be something else. Did any of your little ones have a temp this high with teething?

As an x nursery worker I've seen so many children who have symptoms of teething that GPS say don't exist-
Upset stomach
Really bad nappy rash
High temperature

As soon as the teeth popped through symptoms would dissappear.
