How does 'getting your make up done' work?

Special event on Friday and I've booked into the beauty salon to 'get my make up done'.

As the day gets closer I realise...how will I be able to top up (lipstick especially)...because they're using their products I guess, not mine.

My event is around 10 hours long...Will the make up last?

Sorry but I have no idea and don't wish to appear mad by asking?

Could you take one of your own lippies and ask to use that?

Metabigot · 18/06/2022 09:13

When I had my makeup done for my wedding I had my own lippie

Brilliant idea! OK I shall treat myself to a new one today and take that!!

I’ve had mine done a few times. I’ve always just taken my own lip stick to top up but the actual make up lasts all day, I don’t know how it’s some kind of magic but genuinely it’s looked as good at midnight as it did at 7am when it was done!

Had my make up done for a wedding once and they sent me away with a mini versions of the lipstick they used to top up throughout the day.

Either take a selection of your own that you want to use, or ask in advance if they will give you a sample or full size one to buy/take.

For my wedding, I had a trial and she told me the lipstick she'd used so I could source it in advance of the actual day, but little different if its straight to the real thing.

If you have a strong preference for a certain foundation/if you have an unusual shade, then you might want to bring your own foundation too. I think the only thing you might want to top up on would be lipstick as others have said. Hope you enjoy your event x

Thanks everyone. Bought a new lipstick to go with my outfit yesterday so will take that. Feel encouraged by the reports.

I’ve had my make up done a couple of times for weddings and events and they’ve made me up a little mini pot with the lip colour mixed with gloss/Vaseline/something to make a top up colour.
