How long should a hygienist appointment last?

A year ago I was charged £45 for 12 mins (not sure what the specific time should be, if indeed there is one).

However, I have put off going again as the cost is now £75 which I think is daylight robbery if it’s still going to be around 12 minutes.

It depends how much there is to do. Mine don't take very long and I still get charged for 30 minutes. A few years ago I used to have a shorter appointment and pay less, but now it's a one-size-fits-all slot. I don't know if they take longer with some people. I think I paid £55 last time (plus PPE surcharge).

Not sure it's ever been as quick as 7 minutes though! However, I had a check-up which took about that long this morning and that cost £40.
