Short son

Hi all, I’m wondering what to do, if anything. My son is in y5 and really short. He’s the shortest in a year of 120 (4 form). I’m wondering if I should take him to the doctors - realistically is there anything they could do? Sorry for the clueless post.

Thanks for all responses. Saw doctor who has referred for X-ray and blood test/growth hormone test.

How did you get on?

Think carefully about the growth hormone test, it's quite intrusive. My son was 0.5 centile and midparental height prediction is 75th so we were urged to have it, but it was very hard for him. As I somewhat assumed, he's just a slow grower or takes after my short father. Regret having it done a bit.

It's good to know though, isn't it?
Did they do a bone X-ray out of interest?

(0.4th centile daughter, not seen endo yet )
