Which dating app?

I separated from my stbxh towards the end of last year and am thinking about giving online dating a try. I'm nearing 40 and think I would prefer an app that you pay for rather than a free one (I very briefly signed up to a free one a couple of months ago and within 10 minutes had a few sleazy messages so quickly removed myself! Which would you recommend? Thanks 😊

maybe possibly watching ...

Don't bother paying for one, it's the same people om most of them regardless. I found not having a profile picture reduced the amount of sleezy messages. I preferred to contact people and send them a pic with first message.

I’ve been on plenty of fish (with my terrible typing that just autocorrected to plenty of dogs 😂) for a few weeks now. I haven’t had any sleazy messages, just some nice chats with a few interesting and funny guys and a few messages from people I’m not fussed about saying hi.

Your profile will - to some extent - determine the type of interactions you get. I’m late 40s, overweight although reasonable attractive, no revealing photos, up front and honest about myself and what I’m looking for. They seem to mainly respect that and will pick things out of my profile to talk about so they clearly do read it.

And yes, preciously I went on Match and POF and there were all the same people on both.

Hinge and tinder have always worked for me.

Match I pay for (only as I found a cash back offer!) and it is pretty rubbish. I definitely wouldn't renew the subscription. However a friend has met a lovely guy on it, she's in a different area to me though. Unless it is just my area, the quality of guys is significantly worse than Hinge, Bumble, OKCupid etc. They were generally ok, tinder was the only app I got sleazy messages on. OkCupid was a lot of first dates, Hinge just a lot of chat and not many forthcoming asking for dates. If you're willing to pay, have you considering a proper match making service? I'm guessing they're a lot pricier but might be worth it.
