How do you get to see a GP post covid??

During covid we had e consult which worked well, plus phone in or queuing outside and speaking into an intercom. Our surgery opened this week. E consult gone, face to face booking banned, only phone appointments from 8am allowed. Our elderly neighbour was so desperate he waited outside from 7.30 am he was allowed in but told he couldn't book an appointment except by phone.

We seem to have gone backwards at this surgery technology wise

Ours is brilliant, you call up, tell reception the issue, get sent a link to submit any photos then either go on the GP callback list for a phone appt or get invited in for a face to face.

i think it’s brilliant as stuff like eczema cream they can prescribe without seeing you and then send the script directly to the local pharmacy

your set up sounds pretty rubbish, can you switch surgeries?

Change surgery!

Ours went through a stage of only doing on the day appointments but have now gone back to offering routine appointments that can be booked in advance. Usually telephone appointments which I actually prefer, but if it's something that clearly can't be done over the phone (and you're willing to tell the receptionist) they'll do face to face. I was somewhat surprised a few weeks back that they offered to see my snotty, coughing feverish daughter in person.

I've been seen a few times. Tad annoying when it's stuff that could be done over the phone!
