Have you found 'your people' on an internet group?

Doesn't matter which kind of social media/website or what type of group etc etc, but have you found a group of people that you just fit right in with? I've always thought that it was a bit of a weird idea to be honest, but I found group of my people on a facebook group about sheep, and it's bloody amazing, all of the answers to all of the questions, recognition of your lifestyle, possibly too many photographs of the back end of a ewe at lambing time, but pretty much a great informative and supportive place for those with a shared interest.

It's made me re-think my idea of a feeling of a community which possibly says more about me really, but I'd always used groups/sites on a bit of a dip in and out as required, but I've realised that I'd be quite gutted if the group got disbanded.

Not going to mention the group name, no need to really, it could be any group for anything that you just slide right in to.

Yes! And anyone from BMC reading this knows!

I have tried. I joined a few FB groups of TV series and bands I like but they seemed to be full of really mad stalker fans incapable of any discussion. I end up leaving them for my own safety. Grin

I found my tribe on here twenty years ago, we are all in daily contact of sorts and we meet up twice a year, every year (pandemic asides) once in London and once in the Midlands.

Yes - waves to other BMC’ers

I have been fortunate to have met a few over the years. From the parenting forums years ago, where a dozen or more of us like-minded people formed a group, to more specialist interest topics nowadays. And reading groups, one general and long running.

I've met some of them, too (and some from Mumsnet).

Yes, via a Facebook group linked to a band. We now regularly go to gigs together, we speak daily and I've even been on holiday with some.
