We just accept them because “it’s always done like that”.

My contribution is hotel hair dryers. Why are they travel size? The hair dryer isn’t actually travelling, the person is. Why don’t they provide normal powerful hair dryers?! It makes no sense!

I suppose they bought a job lot and small enough to fix to the wall or inside a drawer and so rubbish nobody would want to try and steal them. A really good dryer would be smuggled out by someone who would get away with it.
